Can I work in a court system while on misdemeanor probation?

I'm speaking specifically of Albermarle County, VA I received a second interview for an internship that works with Victim Advocacy, but I'm on misdemeanor probation for minor in possession. My file is closed socially, but legally I'm still on probation. When they background check they will find this out, I plan on being upfront about it, will it be a subjective judgment or is it just a technicality it might not be allowed?
