Lose weight or workout first?

Im not fat at all. I want to get a six pack and will be working out daily to go for my goal this summer. Obviously the reason i have no six pack is because i have excess fat. Im skinny although my stomach is not toned, so there are no abs :) should i workout straight away and turn the fat into muscle, or get rid of the fat with strict diet and lots of cardio? also whats faster?
